Search marketing specialist Outrider Australia has today revealed that Australians are using search more than ever to research product purchases.
Further, the study reveals that it is becoming more likely that users will click on trusted brand websites than results that are simply keyword relevant to the search query.
Other key findings from the study show that:
- The majority of users begin product research with a search engine.
- 50% clicked on search results from a brand they trusted, up from 39% in 2009.
- 30% clicked on a link because it was relevant to their search, down from 41%.
- 33% clicked on a link because it was in top three results, up from 27%.
Despite so many people relying on search engines for their product information, only a small number of Australian websites are optimizing for search properly. Research recently released by NLYZR shows that just 6% of Australian websites are optimized properly.
How well optimized is your website?
