Break the mould and move away from the standard one screen template, same logo position, navigation and bland corporate information by providing visitors to your business’ website with up-to-date, useful information as part of a blog.
Why bother with a blog?
- Regularly updated, useful information on your blog will keep visitors interested and coming back for more. Each time they visit your blog, they’re also, directly or indirectly, visiting your business, your branding and your products & services.
- Blogs have RSS capabilities, which allows your loyal readership to subscribe for updates via email. This, again, encourages multiple engagements with your business and increases the likelihood of those readers becoming customers over time.
- Blog posts are easily shared. Provide useful content, and an easy way for readers to share it (such as Facebook “Share” button or Twitter’s “Tweet” button) and there’s a good chance that your readers will distribute your story for you. This immediately broadens your audience and starts to take advantage of powerful word-of-mouth marketing.
- Blogs are very search engine friendly! Each entry you post is another new page on your website for Google, Bing, Yahoo etc to index and another potential spot in search results that can deliver more traffic to your website. Keeping your website dynamic and fresh is key for search engine optimization (SEO) results – a website sitting unchanged month after month is likely to be overtaken by more active competitors.
- Have a blog makes adding new information to your site easy. A blog takes away the limitations of overall site design and pages and, in fact, encourages you to generate more content.
- Blogging can help grow your organisation. Blogging about your industry and business can keep you thinking about why your organisation exists and a thoughtful post could lead to a “light bulb” moment.
A blog is a great part of a inbound marketing strategy for most businesses and can have wonderful results for those who embrace it. Move away from old-fashioned templates and take a more dynamic approach to your website.
